Our virtual groups give people affected by hoarding and clutter concerns a place to connect from Springfield, Greene County, and nearby communities. We can help you think through what is happening and what kind of next step may fit.

First conversations
You do not need to know the perfect service name before reaching out. These organizations can help you understand the landscape and identify a next step.
Missouri 211 helps people search local food, housing, utility, health-care, mental-health, substance-use, transportation, and other basic-needs resources. A referral is not a guarantee of an open bed, appointment, benefit, or service, so ask for Greene County options and confirm directly.
Burrell Behavioral Health provides community mental-health and substance-use services in southwest Missouri. Its Springfield crisis and connection centers can explain immediate and ongoing options, including peer support and referrals. Ask about current fit, age range, insurance or ability-to-pay options, and wait time.
The Springfield-Greene County Health Department provides public-health programs and local information that can help connect a household with appropriate services. Ask which current program or referral path fits the concern; this is not hoarding-specific care, emergency dispatch, or a cleanup service.
Missouri's Family Support Division directs Greene County residents with questions about health care, child care, food assistance, and temporary assistance to the local office. Ask what application, documentation, interview, and language-access steps apply.
Safety and stability
These pathways serve different situations. Read the labels carefully before calling, especially when a response may involve crisis care, protective services, shelter, housing rules, legal advocacy, or emergency dispatch.
Call 911 when there is immediate danger, fire, a medical emergency, violence, or a threat that cannot wait for a scheduled service. Emergency dispatch is not a hoarding-support program, counseling service, or cleanup provider.
Call or text 988 for emotional distress, suicidal thoughts, or a mental-health or substance-use crisis. 988 can provide crisis support and connection; call 911 for immediate danger, fire, serious medical emergency, or emergency dispatch.
Burrell's Behavioral Crisis Center at 800 South Park is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for adults 18 and older who need immediate behavioral-health crisis care. It is not a cleanup service and does not replace 911 for immediate danger; call or text 988 for crisis connection and confirm current access before traveling.
Missouri's Department of Health and Senior Services accepts reports involving eligible adults age 60 and older and adults with disabilities ages 18 to 59. Call 1-800-392-0210 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily or use the online reporting system; this is a protective-services pathway, not a general cleanup referral or emergency response. Call 911 for immediate danger.
Harmony House provides shelter, advocacy, education, and supportive outreach for survivors of domestic violence and their children. Use a safe way to contact the organization, ask about current shelter and advocacy availability, and call 911 for immediate danger.
The Springfield Housing Authority provides affordable housing and lists applications for public-housing and special-program pathways. Its site currently says the general Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is closed while special programs may still accept applications. Confirm current openings, reasonable accommodations, household support needs, and any housing-safety deadline directly.
Missouri's Department of Mental Health describes housing resources and a Rental Assistance Program that may help prevent homelessness or move a household into safer, more secure rental housing when program criteria are met. Ask for the current Greene County access point; this is not emergency shelter or guaranteed funding.
Victory Mission describes emergency shelter, street outreach, and case management for people experiencing homelessness, along with longer-term restoration and workforce programs. Confirm current shelter access, household rules, identification needs, and whether a referral is required; this is not hoarding treatment or a guaranteed bed.
People and practical help
These listings connect the local community with housing, food, behavioral health, benefits, transit, survivor advocacy, disability support, peer support, and practical resources. Ask about current availability, cost, scope, consent, and safety before relying on them.
Springfield's Building Development Services handles building permits, inspections, and code-related safety concerns, including dangerous or hazardous buildings. This is a regulatory pathway that can create notices, deadlines, or costs; it is not consent-based hoarding support, emergency dispatch, or guaranteed financial assistance.
City Utilities provides electricity, natural gas, water, broadband, and public transportation. Its current assistance links include payment arrangements, OACAC utility programs, and Project SHARE for households facing financial hardship. Confirm service-area, account, application, and fund-availability rules; this is not a cleanup grant.
City Utilities operates Springfield's public bus system with fixed daytime and evening routes and services for riders of different abilities. Confirm the route, fare, schedule, and accessibility or paratransit option before traveling; this is not emergency transportation.
The City of Springfield's Household Chemical Collection Center accepts household hazardous waste by appointment and says there is no charge for eligible residents of Greene, Christian, Dallas, Polk, and Webster Counties. Call ahead about paint, chemicals, batteries, pesticides, transport, and other accepted materials; do not move hazardous items without following the center's instructions.
Crosslines, an outreach of the Council of Churches of the Ozarks, provides a large client-direct food pantry, mobile distributions, senior food programs, and essential items. Confirm current hours, eligibility, identification, household rules, and whether a mobile distribution or pantry visit fits.
Ozarks Food Harvest supports a network of food pantries and community charities across southwest Missouri and directs individuals to its Need Help pathway for a nearby agency. It is a food-access connection, not a guarantee of same-day food or home delivery; confirm the current Greene County partner and pickup rules.
Let's Help describes community meals and food-pantry support in downtown Springfield. Use it as a food and connection pathway when household instability is making it harder to address a clutter or safety concern. Confirm current hours, available services, and whether an appointment or referral is needed.
Missouri's energy-assistance pathway helps eligible households with home-energy costs through local agencies. Application windows and eligibility rules change, and assistance is not a cleaning grant or guaranteed same-day shutoff response. Ask Missouri 211 or the state program for the current Greene County access point.
The Peer Tree is the private-pay pathway for organizing help, decluttering support, groups, family guidance, and practical next steps when a grant or public program is not the right fit. Ask about scope, cost, travel, consent, and safety in Springfield or across Missouri.
Unburied, from The Peer Tree, offers a respectful digital pathway with peer support, groups, and tools for people directly affected and for friends or family supporters. It is not therapy, a crisis service, or a substitute for emergency help.
