PA 211 helps Pennsylvanians find local housing, shelter, food, utility, health, transportation, benefits, and crisis resources. Use it when you are unsure which program fits, then confirm the provider’s current hours, scope, eligibility, privacy, and availability directly.
Connect York is a local search and referral hub that helps residents and providers find York County programs. It can help identify a likely next contact, but it is not emergency dispatch or a guarantee of a bed, appointment, funding, or service fit.
York County describes mental-health services that assess needs, develop a plan, connect residents with supports, and monitor progress. The county also lists a 24-hour WellSpan crisis line and a York walk-in crisis center; ask which route fits and call 911 for immediate danger.
NAMI York-Adams Counties offers peer and family programs, support groups, advocacy, and education for people affected by mental illness and those who support them. Ask about current groups, waitlists, accessibility, and whether the person or family pathway is the better fit; this is not crisis care or therapy.
The International OCD Foundation directory can be searched for clinicians, support groups, organizers, and programs that indicate an interest in hoarding-related care. Ask about experience, licensure, fees, insurance, wait time, privacy, and whether home-based or telehealth work fits.
Safety and stability
These pathways serve different situations. Read the labels carefully before calling, especially when a response may involve protective services, crisis response, city code, shelter, domestic-violence advocacy, behavioral-health support, or emergency dispatch.
Call 911 when there is immediate danger, fire, a medical emergency, violence, or a threat that cannot wait for a scheduled service. Emergency dispatch is not a hoarding-support program, counseling service, or cleanup provider.
York County lists WellSpan Crisis Services as available 24/7 and identifies a walk-in crisis center at 605 South George Street in York that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Ask about current access, transport, age, clinical fit, and follow-up; use 911 for immediate danger.
York County explains that 988 offers free, confidential support and can connect callers to crisis resources. It is not emergency dispatch, licensed therapy, or a cleanup service; call 911 for immediate danger, fire, or a medical emergency.
York County’s current mental-health agency information lists TrueNorth Wellness mobile crisis as available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, including on-site, community, or in-home response. Ask about current dispatch, safety planning, and the least-restrictive appropriate response.
York County Area Agency on Aging describes protective services intended to keep older adults safe in the least restrictive setting and lists self-neglect among reportable concerns. Reports may lead to investigation and service coordination; this is not a general cleanup referral or guaranteed housing placement.
York County’s Crisis Intervention Team describes a partnership among law enforcement, mental-health professionals, hospitals, consumers, and families. If calling 911 during a mental-health crisis, tell the dispatcher and ask whether a trained CIT officer can respond; this is not a hoarding-support or cleanup service.
York County lists a 24/7 PA Access Center for people needing withdrawal management or detox placement and describes crisis and treatment referrals. Ask about the level of care, funding source, transport, and whether the concern is substance-use, behavioral-health, medical, or another emergency.
ACCESS York offers free, confidential support that may include emergency shelter, safety planning, legal advocacy, counseling, support groups, and referrals for survivors and their dependents. This is a violence-safety pathway rather than general hoarding support; call 911 for immediate danger.
The York County PFA Office helps people begin protection-order processes at the York County Judicial Center. Ask about current filing steps, safety planning, accommodations, and whether a domestic-violence advocate can assist; call 911 for immediate danger.
York’s Bureau of Permits and Inspections lists complaints that can include trash accumulation, insects, leaks, sewer backup, mold, and other property-maintenance concerns. Confirm city jurisdiction and process; a complaint or inspection is not a guaranteed cleanup, relocation, or support response.
People and practical help
These listings connect York and York County residents with county-seat government, housing, homelessness navigation, food, legal and victim support, health care, peer support, benefits, disposal, organizing, and community resources. Ask about current availability, cost, scope, consent, and safety before relying on them.
Friends and Neighbors describes The Beacon as York’s daytime resource center for people experiencing homelessness, open Monday through Friday from 12:30 to 3 p.m. It connects neighbors with medical, legal, housing, behavioral-health, and other partners; ask about current hours and access before traveling.
Friends and Neighbors says it provides York County’s comprehensive street outreach, meeting people where they are and connecting them with essentials, resources, and stable-housing pathways. Ask what current outreach can offer, whether consent is needed, and how to coordinate with The Beacon or 211.
LifePath lists men’s, women’s, and family shelters, case management, meals, showers, hygiene kits, housing and employment planning, recovery connections, and Code Blue or Code Red responses. Ask about current registration, identification, bed availability, household configuration, and belongings rules.
York County’s resource page lists shelters and housing supports including Bell Family Shelter, Covenant House, LifePath, veteran housing, Beacon, and domestic-violence pathways. Use it to orient yourself, then call 211 or the provider to confirm current intake, availability, accessibility, and documents.
The York County Planning Commission says it funds community organizations rather than providing direct homeless housing and directs people to 211 for housing solutions. Its shelter list covers families, single adults, youth, and domestic-violence pathways; call ahead to confirm current access.
York County publishes a human-services guide that can help identify local housing, emergency mental-health, substance-use, legal, benefits, food, and shelter contacts. Use it as an orientation tool and confirm current phone numbers, intake, cost, consent, privacy, and capacity directly.

The county’s Court Self-Help Center offers free access to basic procedural information, forms, and legal research tools and lists low-cost or legal-aid referral options. Ask what the center can and cannot do for the specific housing, benefits, guardianship, or protection-order concern.
York’s Environmental Bureau manages refuse, recycling, large-item, and yard-waste collection and provides routes for missed collections and trash concerns. Confirm city residency, pickup schedules, item limits, placement rules, and whether a special disposal route is needed before moving items.
Rainbow Rose Center resource specialists maintain a vetted internal resource list and help connect York County residents to health, housing, shelter, legal, addiction, and other services. They state that staff are not licensed therapists and cannot offer legal or medical advice; ask about confidentiality and current referral scope.
The Peer Tree is the private-pay pathway for organizing help, decluttering support, groups, family guidance, and practical next steps when a grant or public program is not the right fit. Ask about scope, cost, travel, consent, safety, and whether support is available in York or York County.
