Start here - Fight the Blight
Fight the Blight is the nonprofit front door and offers virtual peer-support groups; ask about current fit and capacity from Ripley or elsewhere. The Peer Tree is a separate private-pay pathway; confirm scope, service area, availability, and fees. Unburied is a digital peer-support pathway, not therapy or emergency support. Local listings are independent options, not endorsements; confirm access, eligibility, cost, and fit directly.
For immediate danger, fire, rescue, or urgent medical response, call 911. For emotional distress or a behavioral-health crisis, call or text 988, or contact Help4WV. You do not need to know the perfect service name before reaching out. These organizations can help you understand the landscape and identify a next step.
A separate private-pay pathway for hoarding-related support. Ask directly about scope, location, availability, travel, and current fees before making plans. It is distinct from Fight the Blight's nonprofit programming and is not emergency care.
Unburied is a digital peer-support pathway for people affected by hoarding and clutter concerns and for friends and family. Use it for connection and ongoing peer support; it does not provide therapy, emergency response, or local case management.
West Virginia 211 helps people look for current food, housing, utility, transportation, health, and family-service options. Call 211 or text a ZIP code to 898-211; if a phone cannot reach 211, the official contact page lists a toll-free alternative. A referral does not guarantee an opening or assistance. This is not emergency dispatch.
Safety and stability
These pathways serve different situations. Read the labels carefully before calling, especially when a response may involve crisis care, protective services, shelter, housing rules, legal advocacy, or emergency dispatch.
Call 911 for immediate danger, fire, rescue, or urgent medical response. City and county office numbers are for routine business and are not dispatch. If it is safe to do so, explain what response would help and any access or mobility concerns.
Call or text 988, or use the online chat, for emotional distress or a behavioral-health crisis. WV988 says callers in West Virginia are routed to a local crisis center when available, with a national backup if needed. Ask about the support available for your situation. This is not emergency dispatch; call 911 for immediate physical danger or urgent medical response.
The West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence lists the Family Crisis Intervention Center for Jackson County and a local outreach line at 304-373-0181. The coalition says licensed programs offer free services, though specific options vary. Ask about a safe way to connect; digital communications may not be fully secure. This is a survivor-service pathway, not a general emergency line.
