Our virtual groups give people affected by hoarding and clutter concerns a place to connect from Provo, Utah County, and other communities. We can help you think through what is happening and what kind of next step may fit.

First conversations
You do not need to know the perfect service name before reaching out. These organizations can help you understand the landscape and identify a next step.
Utah 211 connects people with local housing, shelter, food, utility, health, transportation, benefits, legal, and crisis resources. Use it when you are unsure which program fits, then confirm the provider’s current hours, scope, privacy, eligibility, and availability directly.
Utah County Human Services describes ICAN, a Housing Stability Program for families at risk of or experiencing homelessness, and Winter Task Force coordination. Ask what current program is open, what documentation is required, and whether the household should also call 211.
The Utah County Health Department maintains a community-assistance page with Provo-area food, housing, emergency assistance, senior meal, health, and substance-use pathways. Use the page to orient yourself and confirm current intake, cost, documentation, and geographic limits with each program.
NAMI Utah offers classes, family support groups, connection groups, and resources, and identifies a Utah County affiliate. Ask about current Provo-area or online groups, registration, accessibility, and whether the family or individual pathway is the better fit; this is not crisis care or therapy.
The International OCD Foundation directory can be searched for clinicians, support groups, organizers, and programs that indicate an interest in hoarding-related care. Ask about experience, licensure, fees, insurance, wait time, privacy, and whether home-based or telehealth work fits.
Safety and stability
These pathways serve different situations. Read the labels carefully before calling, especially when a response may involve protective services, crisis response, city or county code, shelter, victim advocacy, behavioral-health support, or emergency dispatch.
Call 911 when there is immediate danger, fire, a medical emergency, violence, or a threat that cannot wait for a scheduled service. Emergency dispatch is not a hoarding-support program, counseling service, or cleanup provider.
Utah crisis guidance identifies 988 as a 24/7 behavioral-health crisis pathway for people and families. It is not emergency dispatch, licensed therapy, or a cleanup service; call 911 for immediate danger, fire, or a medical emergency.
Wasatch Behavioral Health lists a Receiving and Outreach Center at 1175 East 300 North in Provo that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Ask about current access, transport, age, clinical fit, and follow-up; use 911 for immediate danger.
Wasatch Behavioral Health describes Crisis Residential Support as a stabilization program that can help eligible people avoid higher levels of care and connect with longer-term supports. Ask about current referral steps, coverage, length of stay, and whether the Receiving Center should be the first contact.
Wasatch Behavioral Health describes Vantage Point as a short-term voluntary crisis facility for youth ages 10 to 17 facing family conflict, runaway risk, serious emotional distress, or related challenges. Walk-ins are accepted, but call ahead when possible; this is not an adult service or general hoarding program.
Utah Adult Protective Services identifies self-neglect as a situation in which a vulnerable adult cannot provide basic necessities because of a mental or physical impairment. Call 911 for an emergency; otherwise call APS or use the online report, understanding that this is an investigation and protection pathway, not a general cleanup referral.
The Utah County Health Department’s Provo office connects residents to public-health, environmental-health, substance-use and suicide-prevention, WIC, senior-volunteer, and other county services. It is not emergency dispatch or a hoarding-response team; call 911 for immediate danger.
The Utah County Family Justice Center provides crisis intervention, victim advocacy, legal advice on family, elder, and tenant law, and community referrals. This is a violence and victim-safety pathway rather than general hoarding support; call 911 for immediate danger.
The Utah Domestic Violence Coalition can help identify domestic-violence advocacy and safety resources across Utah. Ask about confidential contact options, emergency shelter, transportation, accessibility, and the safest way to communicate; use 911 for immediate danger.
Utah County Community Development lists building, planning, zoning, and fire-marshal contacts for county-jurisdiction concerns. Confirm whether the property is inside Provo city limits or unincorporated county before using this pathway; a code contact is not a cleanup or support service.
People and practical help
These listings connect Provo and Utah County residents with county-seat government, housing, homelessness navigation, food, legal and victim support, health care, aging services, peer support, benefits, disposal, organizing, and community resources. Ask about current availability, cost, scope, consent, and safety before relying on them.
Food and Care Coalition provides a Provo resource center for people experiencing homelessness or food insecurity, including meals, day services, case management, medical and dental care, job readiness, and housing pathways. Its meals are open to people in need, while housing and other services require assessment; confirm current access before relying on placement.
The Coalition describes furnished transitional housing and permanent supportive housing at Candlelight Villas, with case management and partner services. Ask about current openings, eligibility, required participation, documentation, and whether a household’s needs fit this housing pathway.
Utah County lists Community Action Services as a Provo resource for food pantry access, emergency assistance, homebuyer education, financial literacy, and related stability programs. A caseworker assessment and intake may be required; ask about current funding, documents, and whether assistance is available for the specific housing or utility concern.
Provo City Housing Authority describes public housing, Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, and other low- and moderate-income housing programs for elderly people, people with disabilities, and families. Participants typically pay a share of adjusted income, but waitlists and eligibility change; confirm directly.
Provo City lists community programs connected to housing stability, HOME-ARP services, emergency home repair, neighborhood revitalization, and a loan-to-grant egress-window program for qualifying low-income owner-occupants. Ask what is currently open and whether the property and household meet the program rules.
Provo’s assistance hub brings together city pathways that may help with home safety, emergency repairs, housing stability, and neighborhood conditions. These are targeted programs rather than a general hoarding-cleanup fund; confirm current funding, ownership, income, and application requirements.
MAG serves as the Area Agency on Aging for Utah, Wasatch, and Summit counties and lists senior information, referrals, caregiver support, meals, transportation, and related services. Call the senior helpline to identify the right Utah County program and confirm age, cost, and availability.
MAG’s senior resources identify the Provo Senior Citizens Center as a local connection for older adults, including congregate meals and senior programming. Call ahead for current hours, meal schedules, transportation, accessibility, and whether a caregiver or family supporter can participate.
Utah Legal Services offers civil legal assistance and lists a Provo service location. Ask about current intake, income eligibility, housing or benefits scope, language access, conflicts, and whether the situation qualifies for advice or representation; legal aid is not emergency dispatch or cleanup.
The Utah County Health Department’s community-resources guide collects local food, housing, mental-health, translation, employment, family, and protective-services contacts. Use it as a starting map rather than a guarantee, and confirm each program’s current number, hours, cost, eligibility, and intake process.
Provo City Code Compliance handles local concerns involving property use and maintenance, junk storage, over-occupancy, and related health and safety issues. Confirm city jurisdiction and the least disruptive process; reporting a violation is not a guaranteed cleanup, relocation, or support response.
Provo’s trash and recycling guidance can help with disposal logistics after a person-centered plan is made. Confirm residency, pickup schedule, collection limits, special-waste rules, and whether an item must go to the South Utah Valley Solid Waste District rather than curbside collection.
The Peer Tree is the private-pay pathway for organizing help, decluttering support, groups, family guidance, and practical next steps when a grant or public program is not the right fit. Ask about scope, cost, travel, consent, safety, and whether support is available in Provo or Utah County.
Unburied, from The Peer Tree, offers a judgment-free digital pathway with peer support, groups, and tools for people directly affected and for friends or family supporters. It is not therapy, a crisis service, or a substitute for emergency help.
