Our virtual groups give people affected by hoarding and clutter concerns a place to connect from Mason, Ingham County, and other communities. We can help you think through what is happening and what kind of next step may fit.

You do not need to know the perfect service name before reaching out. These organizations can help you understand the landscape and identify a next step.
Call or text 988 for a behavioral-health crisis, suicidal thoughts, emotional distress, or concern about a loved one. This is not a cleanup provider and does not replace 911 for immediate danger.
The Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties provides 24-hour crisis triage and walk-in adult crisis services at its Lansing Crisis Care Center. Call first for current instructions. This is qualified behavioral-health care, not home cleanup or general organizing help.
Michigan 211 can help identify local programs when you are not sure which agency fits. Call 211, text your ZIP code to 898211, or search online. It is not a guaranteed placement, funding source, cleanup provider, or emergency-dispatch substitute.
The International OCD Foundation directory can be searched for clinicians, support groups, organizers, and programs that indicate an interest in hoarding-related care. Ask about current experience, licensure, fees, insurance, wait time, privacy, and whether home-based or telehealth work fits.
Safety and stability
These pathways serve different situations. Read the labels carefully before calling, especially when a response may involve protective services, crisis response, domestic-violence advocacy, public health, municipal code, or emergency dispatch.
Call 911 when there is immediate danger, fire, a medical emergency, violence, or a threat that cannot wait for a scheduled service. Emergency dispatch is not a hoarding-support program, counseling service, or cleanup provider.
Michigan APS accepts reports of suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults 24/7 and coordinates with local partners. APS does not remove people from their homes or force services, and it is not a general clutter-removal service. Call 911 for immediate danger.
EVE provides free and confidential services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, stalking, and abuse later in life, including safe nights in shelter and advocacy. Use a safer way to contact the organization when needed. It is not general hoarding support or guaranteed shelter placement.
The county Health Department provides public-health, environmental-health, health-center, coverage-navigation, and family-health services. Ask which department fits a concern involving sanitation, environmental conditions, health access, or benefits. This is not emergency dispatch or a cleanup company.
The Mason municipal code is a place to review local property-maintenance and nuisance rules before filing or responding to a concern. Confirm the current official interpretation with the City of Mason. Code enforcement is not therapy, crisis care, or cleanup assistance.
People and practical help
These listings connect Mason and Ingham County residents with county-seat government, housing, shelter, food, legal support, aging and disability navigation, public health, disposal-related safety information, organizing, or peer support. Ask about current availability, cost, scope, consent, and safety before relying on them.
The Ingham County Clerk's main office is at the Mason Courthouse, 341 South Jefferson, and the county directory connects residents with courts, probate, health, housing, veterans, and other departments. This is an official government pathway, not a social-service intake or cleanup provider.
The county Housing Trust Fund identifies housing partners, housing navigation, emergency shelter, supportive services, and the regional Housing Assessment and Resource Agency pathway. It is a resource map rather than a guarantee of rent, shelter, or immediate placement.
The Lansing Housing Commission serves multiple communities in the greater Ingham County area and describes public housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Shelter Plus Care, HUD-VASH, and family self-sufficiency pathways. Ask about current waitlists, reasonable accommodations, and eligibility. Housing assistance does not include cleanup by itself.
Mason Community Services lists a clothing closet, laundry, transportation, community garden, tax help, emergency shelter planning, and Home Sweet Home support. Ask about current hours, eligibility, referrals, and capacity. It is not a hoarding-disorder treatment program or a guaranteed housing placement.
The Tri-County Office on Aging connects older adults and caregivers with information and assistance, care management, nutrition, Meals on Wheels, caregiver support, Medicare and Medicaid counseling, and other community programs. It is planned navigation, not emergency dispatch or cleanup support.
The Greater Lansing Food Bank serves Ingham County within its seven-county service area and offers a pantry locator, mobile distribution calendar, home delivery, and senior programs. Locations, hours, and distribution methods can change, so confirm directly before traveling.
The Tri-County Office on Aging maintains a current directory of nearby shelters and housing pathways, including City Rescue Mission, Holy Cross, Haven House, Advent House, and domestic-violence services. These are regional resources rather than Mason city programs. Call first to confirm who is served and whether space is available.
LSSCM provides free civil legal assistance with priorities that include homelessness prevention, domestic-violence prevention, health care, food and benefits, housing, utilities, consumer matters, and older-adult issues. It cannot take every case and is not an emergency service or cleanup provider.
The Peer Tree is the private-pay pathway for organizing help, decluttering support, groups, family guidance, and practical next steps when a grant or public program is not the right fit. Ask about scope, cost, travel, consent, safety, and whether support is available in Mason or Ingham County.
Unburied, from The Peer Tree, offers a judgment-free digital pathway with peer support, groups, and tools for people directly affected and for friends or family supporters. It is not therapy, a crisis service, or a substitute for emergency help.
