Our virtual groups give people affected by hoarding and clutter concerns a place to connect from Juneau, Southeast Alaska, and other communities. We can help you think through what is happening and what kind of next step may fit.
Call 911 for a medical emergency, fire, or immediate threat. For behavioral-health crisis support, call or text 988; Juneau's mobile crisis response is coordinated through local dispatch. For shelter and housing navigation, review The Glory Hall and City housing resources.
First conversations
You do not need to know the perfect service name before reaching out. These organizations can help you understand the landscape and identify a next step.
Bartlett Regional Hospital provides outpatient psychiatric visits, inpatient mental-health care, psychiatric emergency services, assessments, therapy, dual-diagnosis care, and medication support. Ask about the right level of care, current access, insurance, Medicaid, and self-pay options.
SEARHC provides outpatient behavioral-health services from its Front Street Clinic for patients currently in Alaska and publishes a 24/7 crisis helpline. Ask about eligibility, appointments, telehealth, cost, privacy, and whether this service fits the concern.
The City and Borough describes a mobile crisis team made up of a Capital City Fire and Rescue paramedic and a Bartlett clinician. Dispatch coordinates responses from public calls, responders, or 988; ask for the safest current response and call 911 for immediate danger.
AHFC lists the Juneau Family Investment Center, Housing Choice Voucher assistance, senior and disability housing, family housing, and application hours. Ask about current waiting-list status, reasonable accommodations, and the program that best fits.
The Glory Hall describes emergency night shelter, limited case management, food, meals, day shelter, laundry, showers, clothing, transportation, and other basic-needs support. Call before traveling and confirm current overnight, day-service, and housing options.
Safety and stability
These pathways serve different situations. Read the labels carefully before calling, especially when a response may involve crisis care, survivor advocacy, shelter, protective services, code compliance, fire safety, or emergency dispatch.
Call 911 for a fire, medical emergency, violence, immediate threat, or dangerous condition that cannot wait for a scheduled service. Emergency dispatch is not a hoarding-support program, counseling service, or cleanup provider.
The Alaska Department of Health says 988 provides confidential crisis counseling 24 hours a day, seven days a week for people of any age, including non-English speakers and people who are deaf or hard of hearing. It is not emergency dispatch or a cleanup service.
The City and Borough says its mobile crisis team can respond in the community seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dispatch coordinates calls from the public, responders, or 988. Confirm current availability and call 911 directly for immediate danger.
Bartlett's Mental Health Unit provides short-term assessment and treatment for adults 18 and older with mental-health emergencies and describes medication, therapy groups, individual therapy, case management, and aftercare planning. Use emergency services for immediate danger.
AWARE publishes a 24/7 crisis line, safe shelter, hospital response, legal advocacy, participant housing, and rural outreach for people affected by domestic and sexual violence. Use a safer device when possible and call 911 for immediate danger.
IACNVL serves Interior Alaska with a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, safety planning, advocacy, and supportive housing. Call before traveling and do not post sensitive details publicly; this is not a general cleanup or emergency medical service.
Alaska Adult Protective Services helps prevent or stop harm to vulnerable adults and can connect people with services or safe housing. Use it when abuse, neglect, exploitation, abandonment, or serious self-neglect may be involved; it is not a voluntary cleanup service.
Juneau Code Compliance investigates complaints involving building, land-use, litter, junk and debris, unsafe structures, and related municipal-code concerns. A complaint can begin a formal process but is not consent-based support or a guaranteed cleanup; ask about the least disruptive route.
The Fire Marshal's Office handles fire and life-safety inspections, code enforcement, fire education, and coordination with building inspectors. Call 911 for a fire or immediate danger; contact the office for non-emergency code questions.
The Zach Gordon Youth Center and Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority describe Shéiyi X̱aat Hít as emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth. Confirm current age range, intake, hours, transportation, and available space before traveling.
People and practical help
These listings connect Juneau and Southeast Alaska residents with housing, homelessness navigation, food, aging, benefits, behavioral health, transit, disposal, library access, peer support, and community resources. Ask about current availability, cost, scope, consent, and safety before relying on them.
The Glory Hall provides practical support for people experiencing homelessness, including shelter, meals, hygiene, clothing, transportation, and limited case management. Confirm current overnight and day-service schedules before relying on a visit.
The City and Borough lists housing resources, emergency cold-weather shelter when temperatures fall below freezing, domestic-violence shelter through AWARE, and local housing contacts. Confirm current activation, screening, and availability before traveling.
Family Promise of Juneau operates House of Promise for eligible families with children who lack stable housing or are at risk of homelessness. Ask about current qualification, background-check, substance-use, safety, and space requirements before applying.
Gastineau Human Services helps people in Juneau whose lives are affected by addiction, homelessness, or incarceration and describes food and permanent-supportive-housing initiatives. Ask which current program fits and whether an intake or referral is needed.
The Southeast Alaska Food Bank lists a public pantry open to anyone on Thursdays from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and publishes contact information for food support and agency connections. Confirm hours, transportation, identification, and weather-related changes.
Food Bank of Alaska connects people with free food resources and directs Juneau residents to the Southeast Alaska Food Bank. Call 211 or contact the local food resource to confirm current hours and requirements before visiting.
AHFC lists Cedar Park, Geneva Woods, Riverbend, Mountain View, Housing Choice Voucher assistance, and special-needs housing opportunities in Juneau. Confirm current availability, application steps, waiting lists, and reasonable accommodations.
Capital Transit is Juneau's public transportation provider. The City and Borough publishes fixed-route and accessibility information; check current schedules and service changes before planning a food, medical, housing, or support visit.
Juneau describes CAPITAL AKcess as its paratransit service for people who cannot use the fixed-route bus system. Ask about the current application, eligibility, reservation window, fare, and door-to-door service area before relying on a ride.
Alaska's ADRC directory identifies local and regional centers that help connect Alaskans with long-term services and programs. Ask about meals, transportation, caregiver help, home and community-based services, benefits, and accessible supports in Juneau.
Juneau Public Library offers free internet at three libraries, public computers, guest passes, printing, copying, scanning, and videoconferencing. It is not a crisis, housing, or cleanup service, but it can be a practical place to complete applications and connect with information.
The City and Borough publishes solid-waste, curbside, recycling, and household-hazardous-waste information. Review accepted materials, facility schedules, special handling, and contractor details before moving or discarding items from a home.
Juneau's recycling guidance describes recycling-center and household-hazardous-waste options for materials such as paint and oil. Do not mix hazardous materials into ordinary trash; confirm the current facility, container, and appointment requirements.
NAMI Juneau publishes mental-health education and a Connections peer-support group for people living with mental-health challenges. Confirm current meeting times, whether a group is peer-led or clinical, and which concerns should instead go to 988 or emergency care.
Tlingit and Haida describes reentry and recovery services with non-congregate shelters, peer support, therapy, and case management. Ask about eligibility, referral, location, and whether the program fits the person's needs and identity.
The Peer Tree is the private-pay pathway for organizing help, decluttering support, groups, family guidance, and practical next steps when a grant or public program is not the right fit. Ask about scope, cost, travel, consent, safety, and whether support is available in Juneau or Southeast Alaska.
Unburied, from The Peer Tree, offers a judgment-free digital pathway with peer support, groups, and tools for people directly affected and for friends or family supporters. It is not therapy, a crisis service, or a substitute for emergency help.
