Start here - Fight the Blight
Fight the Blight is the nonprofit front door and offers virtual peer-support groups; ask about current fit and capacity from Hamlin or elsewhere. The Peer Tree is a separate private-pay pathway; confirm scope, service area, availability, travel, and fees. Unburied is digital peer support, not therapy or emergency support. The listings below are independent options, not endorsements. Confirm access, eligibility, cost, and fit directly.
For immediate danger, fire, rescue, or urgent medical response, call 911. For emotional distress or a behavioral-health crisis, call or text 988. If there is a specific safety concern involving suspected abuse or neglect, West Virginia DoHS can screen a report; clutter or a neighbor’s disagreement alone does not establish abuse or neglect. For current food, housing, utility, health, transportation, and other referrals, try West Virginia 211. Referrals do not guarantee assistance, a bed, or placement.

Unburied is a digital peer-support pathway for people affected by hoarding and clutter concerns and for friends and family. It supports connection and ongoing peer support, not therapy, emergency response, or local case management.
Call 211 or 1-833-848-9905, or text a ZIP code to 898-211, to ask about current food, housing, utility, transportation, health, and family-service options. Local openings and eligibility vary; a referral does not guarantee assistance or placement and is not emergency dispatch.
Safety and stability
These pathways serve different situations. Read the labels carefully before calling, especially when a response may involve crisis care, protective services, shelter, housing rules, legal advocacy, or emergency dispatch.
Call 911 for immediate danger, fire, rescue, or urgent medical response. If it is safe, explain what response would help and share access, mobility, or communication needs. Routine county offices and referrals are not emergency dispatch.
Call or text 988, or use online chat, to connect with a crisis counselor. Calls are routed based on the phone number and may reach a West Virginia center or a national backup. This is crisis support, not a local hoarding service or a substitute for 911 when immediate physical danger is present.
Help4WV lists 844-435-7498 for calls and texts and online chat. Use it to ask about behavioral-health or substance-use support and referral pathways. For immediate danger or urgent medical response, call 911; for emotional crisis support, 988 is also available.
Call 800-799-SAFE or text START to 88788 for support and safety planning. Consider whether calls, texts, or browsing could be visible to another person; use a safer device if needed. If there is immediate danger, call 911.
The state DoHS hotline can advise about reports of suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation. The state lists this office for Medicaid, SNAP, LIEAP, WVCHIP, non-emergency medical transportation, emergency assistance, and social services. Legal Aid of West Virginia lists Lincoln County in its service area and provides free civil legal help to people who qualify after screening. It may help identify options involving housing or public benefits but does not promise representation in every matter. West Virginia Senior Legal Aid provides civil legal support for eligible older residents. Call to ask whether the issue and age meet current eligibility and what next steps are available. Representation is not promised in every matter.

People and practical help
These listings connect the local community with housing, food, behavioral health, benefits, transit, survivor advocacy, disability support, peer support, and practical resources. Ask about current availability, cost, scope, consent, and safety before relying on them.
The town’s official site lists the Mayor’s Office and Town Council at the Community Center, 220 Main Street, with a shared phone number. Ask which office handles a municipal question and whether an appointment or fee applies. Do not use routine town offices for emergency dispatch.
The county lists the Commission’s office at the courthouse and publishes meeting information. Contact the office for county-government questions or agenda procedures. This listing does not recommend code enforcement as a hoarding-support pathway; discuss a concern with a voluntary support provider when possible.
The County Clerk’s office handles records and county election functions. Check the county’s official page for contact details and call to confirm records, office hours, and any copy or filing cost before visiting.
The Health Department lists immunizations, screenings, reproductive-health services, STI testing and treatment, and community-health programs. Its published hours are weekdays 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Ask which service fits, whether an appointment is needed, and what cost applies; not every service is free.
Southern West Virginia Health System lists family medicine, same-day/walk-in care, pediatric care, and other outpatient services at this Hamlin location. The current page lists weekday and Saturday hours but warns that hours may vary; call to confirm service, appointment access, coverage, and fees. For life-threatening emergencies call 911.
The health system lists behavioral-health services at Lincoln Primary Care Center. Ask about the kind of support offered, clinician qualifications, current openings, insurance, and sliding-fee eligibility. No hoarding-specific treatment is claimed; this listing is not an emergency service.
The provider lists a pharmacy at Lincoln Primary Care Center and notes that select medications may qualify for income-based discounts. Call before traveling to confirm pharmacy hours, prescription requirements, availability, and out-of-pocket cost.
The nonprofit describes peer recovery support, mobile outreach, naloxone education and distribution, hygiene supplies, testing, and referrals related to substance-use and health needs. Those services are distinct from hoarding-related support. Use its current website to confirm which programs operate, their reach, and access before traveling.
