Start here - Fight the Blight
Fight the Blight is our nonprofit front door and offers virtual peer-support groups. Reach out from Grafton, Taylor County, or another community to ask about current options and a respectful first conversation. Local fit and capacity must be confirmed; no funding or local service is guaranteed. The Peer Tree is a separate private-pay pathway. Unburied offers digital peer support, not therapy or crisis response.
If anyone is in immediate danger, call 911. For urgent emotional or behavioral-health support, call or text 988; Valley HealthCare System also lists a regional 24/7 crisis line for Taylor County. RDVIC provides a separate confidential 24/7 hotline for domestic or sexual violence. Other numbers below have narrower roles and are not emergency dispatch.

You do not need to know the perfect service name before reaching out. These organizations can help you understand the landscape and identify a next step.
A separate private-pay pathway for hoarding-related support. Ask directly about scope, location, availability, and current fees before making plans; this is not the nonprofit grant pathway or emergency care.
Unburied offers peer-led digital support for people affected by hoarding and for friends or family. Use it for connection and ongoing peer support; it does not provide therapy or crisis response.
Call 2-1-1, text your ZIP code to 898-211, or use the toll-free number if your phone cannot reach 211. A resource specialist can help search for local food, housing, utility, and other support. A referral does not guarantee an opening, funding, eligibility, or service; call 911 for emergencies.
Safety and stability
These pathways serve different situations. Read the labels carefully before calling, especially when a response may involve crisis care, protective services, shelter, housing rules, legal advocacy, or emergency dispatch.
Call 911 for immediate danger, fire, or an urgent medical or police response. Do not use a routine office line, referral service, or crisis line when emergency dispatch is needed.
Call or text 988 for emotional distress, suicidal thoughts, or behavioral-health crisis support. It is not a housing, cleanup, or case-management program. For immediate physical danger, fire, or emergency medical response, call 911.
Valley lists crisis services around the clock for its north-central West Virginia service area, including Taylor County. Call for a behavioral-health crisis; call 911 for immediate danger or urgent emergency medical dispatch.
RDVIC lists a free, confidential hotline available 24/7 and a Taylor County office line. Ask about safe contact, advocacy, and current services. Use a safer device if needed; this is survivor support, not emergency dispatch. Call 911 for immediate danger.
West Virginia DoHS accepts reports of suspected abuse or neglect involving children and vulnerable adults. This is a protective-services reporting route and may initiate an investigation; it is not a confidential peer-support or voluntary cleanup service. For immediate danger call 911. Mandated reporters should follow current legal requirements.
The City lists a routine department contact for matters within city jurisdiction. Ask whether a concern belongs with city police or another agency. This is not confidential counseling and contact may result in law-enforcement response; call 911 for immediate danger.
The hospital reports a 24-hour emergency department at 1 Hospital Plaza. For urgent response in the community call 911; the hospital phone is not an ambulance-dispatch line. Charges and coverage depend on care and insurance.
Taylor County publishes emergency-management and public-safety information online. Use it for preparedness and current county contacts, not to request an urgent response. Call 911 for immediate danger.
Taylor County lists the Sheriff's Office among its county contacts. Confirm the right office for non-urgent questions; for immediate danger call 911. Contacting law enforcement may result in an official response.
People and practical help
These listings connect the local community with housing, food, behavioral health, benefits, transit, survivor advocacy, disability support, peer support, and practical resources. Ask about current availability, cost, scope, consent, and safety before relying on them.
Valley lists behavioral-health services for Taylor County, including mental-health, substance-use, and developmental-disability pathways, with an office at 501 N. Pike Street in Grafton. Ask about current appointments, service fit, coverage, and its sliding-fee or financial-assistance criteria. A separate 24/7 crisis number appears under Safety.
The health center lists primary-care services in Grafton and says it serves residents of its four-county area regardless of ability to pay. Call about behavioral-health or other available services, current hours, insurance, and payment options. This is routine clinic care, not an emergency department.
The state health department lists the local public-health office. Contact it to confirm current clinic and environmental-health programs, hours, appointments, and any fees before traveling. It is not an urgent-care or emergency service.
The state lists local access to Medicaid, SNAP, WVCHIP, emergency assistance, energy assistance, child care subsidy, transportation benefits, and social services. Contact the office or use WV PATH to ask what applications and documents are current. An application is not a guarantee of eligibility or funds.
West Virginia PATH is the state portal for selected public-benefit applications and case access. Confirm which programs accept online applications and what identity or income records are needed. For help finding a local service, try WV 211; neither path guarantees approval.
The state Bureau for Family Assistance publishes Low Income Energy Assistance Program information. Funding windows and qualification rules can change; check the current application period and documents with the state or local DoHS office. Assistance is not guaranteed.
NCWVCAA lists Taylor among its service counties and describes case-management, weatherization, housing, tax-preparation, and other programs. Its regional office can identify the current local access point and clarify eligibility, documentation, fees, and openings. The organization lists shelters in Fairmont and Elkins—not a Taylor County shelter.
NCWVCAA describes weatherization help for eligible low-income households, such as energy-efficiency and health-and-safety improvements. Ask whether Taylor County applications are open, which housing types qualify, and what inspection or owner-consent rules apply. This is not debris removal or a guaranteed repair service.
The regional program identifies Taylor County in its service area and provides Head Start/Early Head Start pathways for eligible children and families. Ask about age and income requirements, current application timing, transportation, and openings; enrollment is not guaranteed.
The 2025–2026 West Virginia Family Support Center directory lists a Taylor County center in Grafton. Call to ask what family support, referrals, or activities are currently available and whether there are eligibility, privacy, or scheduling requirements. This is not emergency response.
The West Virginia Association of Housing Agencies lists Grafton Housing Authority contact details. Ask about current programs, application windows, waitlists, accessibility, reasonable-accommodation process, and required records. This is not a shelter or guarantee of housing.
HUD's West Virginia page provides official state housing information and pathways to public housing and related programs. Availability, application status, accessibility, and eligibility are set by each program or housing agency; confirm directly before relying on a listing.
Mountaineer Food Bank offers a current food-finder pathway. Search for Taylor County locations and call the listed host or agency to confirm distribution dates, service area, household requirements, accessibility, and whether food is available that day. A listing does not guarantee stock.
Taylor County identifies its Senior Citizens organization as a local service for people age 60 and older. Call about current meals, transportation, in-home or referral options, schedules, fees, and accessibility; don't assume a specific service or ride is available without confirmation.
The state agency provides information about aging services, caregiver supports, and local aging-provider pathways. Ask which current program serves Taylor County and confirm any cost, intake, or waitlist before planning care.
Legal Aid says it handles selected civil issues such as housing, benefits, and domestic-violence matters. Taylor County is served through Clarksburg, but most people must start with statewide intake rather than visit a local office. For an ongoing housing need, contact the locally listed housing authority to ask which programs are open, how to apply, whether a waitlist is active, and how to request an accommodation. Program rules and available units vary; a call does not guarantee housing.
WorkForce West Virginia provides statewide job-seeker and unemployment resources. Use its current office finder to identify the Taylor County access point and confirm appointments, documents, and training eligibility before traveling. Services do not guarantee employment or benefits.
The state agency supports eligible people with disabilities as they prepare for, obtain, or keep work. Contact the agency to ask about referral, assessment, eligibility, and current local access. Acceptance and specific supports are not guaranteed.

Use the local-resource directory to find food and pantry referrals that actually serve your area. Call the host before traveling to verify date, location, hours, eligibility, accessibility, and supply. No listing guarantees food is available.
