Our virtual groups give people affected by hoarding and clutter concerns a place to connect from Fort Wayne, Allen County, and other communities. We can help you think through what is happening and what kind of next step may fit.

First conversations
You do not need to know the perfect service name before reaching out. These organizations can help you understand the landscape and identify a next step.
Indiana's 988 system provides no-cost crisis support for emotional distress, suicidal thoughts, mental-health or substance-use crises, and concern about someone else. Call or text 988 first when the situation is a behavioral-health crisis. It is not a cleanup provider and does not replace 911 for immediate danger.
Parkview Behavioral Health Institute - Park Center describes a 24-hour help line, crisis services, the SOS Mobile Intervention Team, and inpatient and outpatient care. Call first to explain the situation and ask what response fits. This is qualified care and crisis support, not a general home visit or cleanup service.
Indiana 211 can help identify current housing, food, utility, transportation, health, and other local resources. Use it as a navigation point when you are unsure which agency fits. It is not a guaranteed placement, funding source, cleanup provider, or emergency-dispatch substitute.
The International OCD Foundation directory can be searched for clinicians, support groups, organizers, and programs that indicate an interest in hoarding-related care. Listings are not endorsements. Ask about current experience, licensure, fees, insurance, wait time, privacy, and whether home-based or telehealth work fits.
Safety and stability
These pathways serve different situations. Read the labels carefully before calling, especially when a response may involve protective services, crisis response, domestic-violence advocacy, municipal code, aging and disability services, or emergency dispatch.
Call 911 when there is immediate danger, fire, a medical emergency, violence, or a threat that cannot wait for a scheduled service. Emergency dispatch is not a hoarding-support program, counseling service, or cleanup provider.
Parkview describes a 24/7 help line and SOS Mobile Intervention Team for people in behavioral-health crisis. Call the help line first so a crisis specialist can assess the situation and connect you to the appropriate service. It is not a general home visit, cleanup service, or substitute for 911 when there is immediate danger.
Indiana requires a person who has reason to believe an endangered adult is being harmed by abuse, neglect, or exploitation to report to Adult Protective Services or law enforcement. Call the statewide hotline for a report, and call 911 for immediate danger. APS is not a general clutter-removal or cleanup service.
YWCA Northeast Indiana offers a 24/7 crisis line, crisis shelter for individuals or families experiencing domestic violence, and free confidential advocacy that can include safety planning, legal-system navigation, housing information, and support for children. Use a safe way to contact the organization. It is not general hoarding support or a guaranteed shelter placement.
The City of Fort Wayne's Neighborhood Code Compliance division enforces minimum housing standards and accepts reports of possible violations through 311. Ask about jurisdiction, accommodations, notice, inspection, and compliance timelines. It is not therapy, crisis care, or cleanup assistance.
Aging and In-Home Services offers an Aging and Disability Resource Center with information, care options, short-term case management, and benefits enrollment across long-term-care services and supports. Ask what fits the person's age, disability, living situation, and immediate needs. This is a navigation and care-coordination pathway, not an emergency service or cleanup provider.
People and practical help
These listings offer connections for care, housing, shelter, food, benefits, legal support, aging and disability navigation, disposal, organizing, or peer support. They are independent organizations; ask about current availability, cost, scope, consent, and safety before relying on them.
FWHA describes public housing and Housing Choice Voucher options for low-income families, older adults, and people with disabilities. Ask about current waiting lists, preferences, reasonable accommodations, documentation, and unit requirements. Housing assistance does not include cleanup by itself and a voucher is not a guarantee of immediate housing.
The City's Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services coordinates with local providers and directs people experiencing homelessness or a housing crisis toward shelter, coordinated-entry, and housing-navigation options. Call 311 or review current city guidance. It is not a guaranteed shelter bed, funding source, or cleanup provider.
The Rescue Mission asks people in a homeless crisis or dealing with hunger to call for assistance and lists separate contacts for its shelter programs. Call before traveling to confirm current intake, capacity, hours, and any program requirements. Shelter and meals are not a guarantee of placement and this is not a cleanup service.
Community Harvest lists a Saturday Helping Hands distribution open to anyone in need, mobile pantry service, crisis assistance bags, and programs for children, older adults, Veterans, and military families. Confirm the current distribution location, schedule, and any program-specific eligibility or registration before traveling.
Indiana Legal Services identifies a Fort Wayne office serving Allen County and provides civil legal help for matters such as housing, public benefits, family, consumer, and senior law. Ask whether the current issue fits its service area and intake rules. Legal aid is not a cleanup provider or emergency dispatch.
The Allen County legal-service directory lists the Volunteer Lawyer Program for low-income residents seeking help with landlord-tenant, consumer, bankruptcy, real estate, guardianship, Social Security disability, and other civil issues. Ask about current eligibility and whether the matter is within scope. It does not handle every legal issue and is not an emergency service.
The Allen County legal-service directory says the clinic serves Allen County residents and may assist with landlord-tenant, housing or foreclosure, guardianship, disability benefits, consumer and debt, wills and estates, and related civil issues. The directory notes an income guideline and required intake; confirm current times and eligibility directly.
Fort Wayne residents can schedule bulk collection through 311 at least two business days before the regular collection day. The City lists furniture, wrapped mattresses or box springs, and non-freon appliances as accepted examples and excludes items such as tires, batteries, concrete, and freon appliances. This is a disposal pathway, not a cleanup, sorting, or moving service.
The City's January 2026 resource guide gathers local contacts for aging and disability services, Adult Protective Services, food, shelter, benefits, legal services, and other support. Use it as a map, then confirm each program directly because hours, eligibility, capacity, and contact details can change.
The Peer Tree is the private-pay pathway for organizing help, decluttering support, groups, family guidance, and practical next steps when a grant or public program is not the right fit. Ask about scope, cost, travel, consent, safety, and whether requested support is available in Fort Wayne or Allen County.
Unburied, from The Peer Tree, offers a judgment-free digital pathway with peer support, groups, and tools for people directly affected and for friends or family supporters. It is not therapy, a crisis service, or a substitute for emergency help.
