Our virtual groups give people affected by hoarding and clutter concerns a place to connect from Fort Collins, Larimer County, and nearby communities. We can help you think through what is happening and what kind of next step may fit.
Call 911 for a medical emergency, fire, or immediate threat. For behavioral-health crisis support, call or text 988, call Larimer County crisis support at 970-494-4200, or call Colorado Crisis Services at 844-493-8255. For housing, shelter, food, utilities, and basic-needs navigation, confirm current local options through Larimer County and 211 Colorado.
First conversations
You do not need to know the perfect service name before reaching out. These organizations can help you understand the landscape and identify a next step.
Larimer County directs people needing urgent behavioral-health or substance-use care to SummitStone at 970-494-4200 or walk-in urgent care at the Longview campus. The county says crisis care is available to all ages regardless of ability to pay; confirm the current intake route before traveling.
Larimer County lists Connections at 425 West Mulberry Street, Suite 101, Fort Collins, and a Fort Collins walk-in crisis location at 1217 Riverside Avenue. Phone help is available 24 hours, while walk-in instructions and service scope can change. This is not an emergency dispatch or cleanup provider.
NAMI Larimer County offers support groups, classes, and education for people affected by mental-health concerns and their families. It is not a hoarding-specific provider or crisis service, but it may offer a useful peer or family-support conversation. Call or text 988 in a crisis.
The International OCD Foundation directory can be searched for clinicians, programs, support groups, organizers, and task forces that identify hoarding-related experience. Ask about credentials, fees, insurance, wait time, privacy, and whether home-based or telehealth work fits.
Safety and stability
These pathways serve different situations. Read the labels carefully before calling, especially when a response may involve crisis care, protective services, shelter, housing rules, legal advocacy, or emergency dispatch.
Call 911 when there is immediate danger, fire, a medical emergency, violence, or a threat that cannot wait for a scheduled service. Emergency dispatch is not a hoarding-support program, counseling service, or cleanup provider.
Call or text 988 for a behavioral-health crisis, suicidal thoughts, emotional distress, or concern about a loved one. Colorado Crisis Services also lists 844-493-8255. These services are not cleanup providers and do not replace 911 for immediate danger.
Larimer County Adult Protective Services receives reports involving mistreatment or self-neglect of at-risk adults who, because of age or disability, cannot advocate for themselves. Reports may be made during regular or after-hours intake. APS is not a general cleanup service; call law enforcement or 911 for an after-hours emergency.
Larimer County Behavioral Health Services describes crisis behavioral-health care at the Longview campus at 2260 West Trilby Road in Fort Collins, serving people of all ages regardless of ability to pay. Call 970-494-4200 first for current instructions. This is qualified crisis care, not hoarding-specific cleanup or long-term housing.
Crossroads provides emergency safehousing, advocacy, legal assistance, rapid rehousing, crisis intervention, and related support for people experiencing domestic violence or interpersonal abuse. It is not general hoarding support or guaranteed shelter placement.
The city explains how code compliance handles public nuisances, accumulated junk or debris, dangerous conditions, and other neighborhood concerns. The city may inspect, issue notices, or abate some violations and bill the owner. This is not therapy, crisis care, or a consent-based cleanup program.
The city provides rental-housing resources and inspection requests for homes that may not meet minimum requirements for heat, water, windows, or other conditions. Contact the city first to understand the process. It is not a relocation fund, cleanup provider, or emergency dispatch service.
The Murphy Center is a collaboration of independent agencies and a local front door for people who face homelessness or housing instability. It offers core human services such as morning shelter, laundry, showers, mail, computers, phones, and housing connections. It is not guaranteed permanent housing or emergency dispatch.
People and practical help
These listings connect the local community with housing, food, behavioral health, benefits, transit, survivor advocacy, disability support, peer support, and practical resources. Ask about current availability, cost, scope, consent, and safety before relying on them.
Larimer County Human Services provides assistance with food, cash, medical care, child care, and other programs. Current county information identifies SNAP, Health First Colorado, child-care assistance, and Community Services Block Grant housing help for qualifying households. Ask about current intake and documentation.
The Office on Aging helps older adults, adults with disabilities, families, and caregivers identify services, long-term-care options, transportation, nutrition, and supports that promote independence. Ask about options counseling, caregiver support, and current in-home or chore vouchers. This is planned support, not emergency dispatch or cleanup assistance.
Housing Catalyst develops and manages affordable homes and housing assistance in Fort Collins and Northern Colorado. Housing assistance may involve waitlists, eligibility screening, accommodations, and changing availability; confirm current openings and whether an application is being accepted. It does not include cleanup by itself.
The Food Bank for Larimer County offers food assistance and connects residents with local food resources and SNAP help. Confirm current distribution times, locations, household requirements, and any documentation before traveling.
The county's community-resources page gathers local contacts for food assistance, utility support, benefits, housing, health, and other practical programs. Use it as a map and confirm current hours, eligibility, and capacity directly with each program.
211 Colorado connects people with local health and human-service resources, including housing, food, utilities, transportation, and other basic needs. Ask for Larimer County options and confirm whether a referral is current. It is a navigation service, not a guarantee of placement, funding, or cleanup.
Colorado Legal Services lists a Fort Collins office serving Larimer and nearby counties. Ask about housing, benefits, consumer, family, or safety issues and current eligibility. Legal aid is not a cleanup provider or emergency dispatch.
Larimer County provides court and legal-information links for Fort Collins and Loveland, including victim and witness services and legal forms. Court information is not legal representation, social-service placement, or emergency help.
Fort Collins explains curbside trash, recycling, yard-trimmings, and bulk-item collection. Current city information says contracted service includes two free bulk items per year for qualifying residences, while larger or heavier items and extra bags may cost more. Confirm service area, accepted materials, set-out time, and current fees before arranging disposal.
Larimer County Veterans Services connects veterans and eligible family members with benefits, health-care enrollment, claims help, and local service organizations. The county also lists outreach and emergency-resource contacts for veterans facing housing instability. Ask about eligibility and current appointments.
Larimer County's health department connects residents with public-health information and clinical-service pathways. Ask which department is appropriate when environmental, sanitation, communicable-disease, or health concerns overlap with a home-safety situation. It is not a cleanup provider or emergency service.
The Peer Tree is the private-pay pathway for organizing help, decluttering support, groups, family guidance, and practical next steps when a grant or public program is not the right fit. Ask about scope, cost, travel, consent, safety, and whether support is available in Fort Collins or Larimer County.
Unburied, from The Peer Tree, offers a judgment-free digital pathway with peer support, groups, and tools for people directly affected and for friends, family, property managers, municipal workers, and other supporters who want to learn how to provide support. It is not therapy, a crisis service, or a substitute for emergency help.
