Use Wisconsin 211 to identify current local resources for shelter, food, utilities, health care, mental health, substance use, benefits, and other needs. A referral is not a guarantee of an open bed, appointment, benefit, or service, so confirm directly.
Fond du Lac County Human Services connects residents with crisis intervention, outpatient mental-health and substance-use services, inpatient psychiatric care, ADRC, income maintenance, and community support. Ask which division fits the concern and what eligibility or documentation applies.
Crisis Intervention provides phone and walk-in support, assessment, brief intervention, and links to community or inpatient care. The walk-in site is 459 E. 1st Street in Fond du Lac. The team also works with law-enforcement partners in a co-response model.
The Aging and Disability Resource Center helps older adults, adults with disabilities, caregivers, and families understand benefits, housing, long-term-care choices, nutrition, transportation, and support services. Ask for options counseling based on age, disability, consent, and safety needs.
NAMI Fond du Lac offers free support groups, education, advocacy, and community connection for people living with mental-health conditions and their families. Current groups include peer, family, survivor-of-suicide-loss, and virtual options; confirm schedules directly.

Safety and stability
These pathways serve different situations. Read the labels carefully before calling, especially when a response may involve crisis care, protective services, shelter, housing rules, legal advocacy, or emergency dispatch.
Call 911 for a fire, medical emergency, violence, immediate threat, or dangerous condition that cannot wait for a scheduled service. Emergency dispatch is not a hoarding-support program, counseling service, or cleanup provider.
Call or text 988, or use online chat, for emotional distress, suicidal thoughts, mental-health or substance-use crisis, or concern about a loved one. Call 911 for immediate danger.
The county crisis team offers crisis support by phone and at the walk-in location. Staff can assess the situation, provide brief intervention, and connect people to community or inpatient care. Confirm the safest way to arrive when mobility or safety is a concern.
The Acute Psychiatric Unit provides structured inpatient care for acute mental illness, neurocognitive changes, substance-use withdrawal, emotional distress, suicide threats or attempts, and medication changes. Admissions may be voluntary or involuntary and are coordinated through the crisis pathway.
Wisconsin DHS identifies the Fond du Lac County ADRC and Human Services as the adult protective-services contact. APS can assess suspected abuse, neglect, self-neglect, or exploitation while respecting a capable adult's choices and privacy; call 911 for immediate danger.
