The City of Fayetteville directs Cumberland County residents to Alliance’s Access and Information Center for treatment and support related to mental illness, substance use, and intellectual or developmental disabilities. Ask about current local providers, crisis access, insurance, and next steps.
Cumberland County DSS can connect residents with adult services, protective services, Work First, domestic-violence services, and other benefits or family supports. Ask about documentation, emergency contacts, and whether the concern fits a protective or benefits pathway.
The International OCD Foundation directory can be searched for clinicians, support groups, organizers, and programs that indicate an interest in hoarding-related care. Ask about experience, licensure, fees, insurance, wait time, privacy, and whether home-based or telehealth work fits.
Safety and stability
These pathways serve different situations. Read the labels carefully before calling, especially when a response may involve protective services, crisis response, municipal code, shelter or housing navigation, domestic-violence advocacy, behavioral-health support, or emergency dispatch.
Call 911 when there is immediate danger, fire, a medical emergency, violence, or a threat that cannot wait for a scheduled service. Emergency dispatch is not a hoarding-support program, counseling service, or cleanup provider.
Cumberland County Adult Services receives reports and provides protective-services pathways for vulnerable adults. This is not a general cleanup service or a guaranteed removal program; use 911 for immediate danger and ask DSS what response is appropriate.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s community-services list identifies the CARE Center as a local crisis contact. Call for current crisis-navigation information and ask whether the need is best served by the county line, Alliance, 988, or emergency services.
Alliance connects people in Cumberland County with behavioral-health, substance-use, and intellectual or developmental-disability services. Use the Access and Information Center to understand crisis options, provider availability, and the appropriate level of care; it is not a cleanup provider.
The City of Fayetteville’s Code Enforcement office is the municipal contact for code concerns. An inspection or notice may begin a compliance process, but it is not a guaranteed cleanup, relocation, or support service and does not replace emergency dispatch.
The city explains that Coordinated Entry connects people through partner agencies and prioritizes limited housing resources for people most vulnerable to homelessness. It is a referral system, not emergency response or a guarantee of shelter, rent, or housing placement.
The City lists free victim-advocate services, safety planning, referrals, domestic-violence protective-order information, and offsite filing locations. This is a violence-safety pathway, not general hoarding support; call 911 if someone is in immediate danger.
The Phoenix Center provides a local 24-hour hotline and victim advocacy for sexual-assault concerns, with confidential support and referrals. Call 911 for immediate danger; this is a trauma and safety resource, not a cleanup provider.
People and practical help
These listings connect Fayetteville and Cumberland County residents with county-seat government, housing, homelessness navigation, food, legal support, health services, organizing, or peer support. Ask about current availability, cost, scope, consent, and safety before relying on them.
The City identifies the Fayetteville Cares Day Resource Center as a central entry point for residents experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Confirm current operator, location, hours, shower and laundry schedules, and available referrals before traveling.
The Fayetteville-Cumberland County Continuum of Care coordinates local agencies, nonprofits, and public partners around homelessness prevention and intervention. Use its housing and meal pathways to identify a next contact; it is not a guaranteed shelter bed or funding source.
Fayetteville Urban Ministry describes four free programs serving Cumberland County residents and can help with food, clothing, and limited emergency assistance. Ask about current hours, required documents, and whether the need fits its program scope.
The City and Continuum of Care identify Manna Dream Center as a local meal and shelter resource, including weekday meals and food-pantry support. Confirm current location, schedule, eligibility, and available services before traveling.
FMHA provides public housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs in Fayetteville and Cumberland County. Review current applications, waitlists, reasonable accommodations, accessibility, and eligibility directly; housing placement is not guaranteed.

Cumberland County Public Health is a local county-seat pathway for public-health programs and referrals. Ask about current services, fees, appointments, accessibility, and whether a housing or health concern belongs with public health or another agency.
The Peer Tree is the private-pay pathway for organizing help, decluttering support, groups, family guidance, and practical next steps when a grant or public program is not the right fit. Ask about scope, cost, travel, consent, safety, and whether support is available in Fayetteville or Cumberland County.
Unburied, from The Peer Tree, offers a judgment-free digital pathway with peer support, groups, and tools for people directly affected and for friends or family supporters. It is not therapy, a crisis service, or a substitute for emergency help.
