Cameron and Elk Counties Behavioral and Developmental Program
Ask how to access county-supported adult mental-health services and housing-related navigation. Confirm the office location by phone; the website displays different street addresses.
A Hoarding Alliance local resource guide
A next step can be a conversation, a safer path through a room, or help with one practical need. You do not have to do everything at once.
Start here - Fight the Blight
Fight the Blight is the nonprofit first-conversation and virtual-group front door. County and regional pathways below can help with care, housing and everyday needs; each has its own eligibility and availability.
Talk about hoarding-related support, family concerns and current virtual groups. A finished room is not required to begin.
Role: nonprofit first-conversation and virtual-group front door; geography: remote; ask about Cameron County; cost/eligibility: confirm program fit and availability; emergency limit: nonclinical; not therapy, emergency response, shelter or cleanup
Call 911 for immediate danger, fire, serious injury or urgent medical need. Call or text 988 for emotional distress or suicide-related support. Peer groups, referral websites and office intake are not emergency dispatch or guarantees of treatment, shelter, funding or cleanup.
First conversations
You do not need to know the perfect service name before reaching out. These organizations can help you understand the landscape and identify a next step.
Ask how to access county-supported adult mental-health services and housing-related navigation. Confirm the office location by phone; the website displays different street addresses.
Call 211 or text your ZIP to 898-211 for housing, utilities, food and other referrals. The receiving provider decides eligibility and availability.
Ask about Cameron Homeless Assistance, Homeless Prevention, or Emergency Food and Shelter rental assistance. Potter-only rules on the page are not Cameron rules. Call for an appointment before travel.
Safety and stability
These pathways serve different situations. Read the labels carefully before calling, especially when a response may involve crisis care, protective services, shelter, housing rules, legal advocacy, or emergency dispatch.
Call or text 988 to talk with a counselor during distress. This is not a housing or cleanup program.
Dickinson lists this local crisis number and text 63288. Use the crisis pathway rather than waiting for routine intake.
Use the Cameron County hotline for safety planning and victim-service or shelter referrals. Contact the agency in a way that is safe for you; its web form is not immediate response.
Use this reporting pathway for suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation or abandonment of an older adult, not simply because possessions are numerous.
Ask about housing, benefits or other eligible civil issues. Tell intake about notices and deadlines; an application does not establish representation.
People and practical help
These listings connect the local community with housing, food, behavioral health, benefits, transit, survivor advocacy, disability support, peer support, and practical resources. Ask about current availability, cost, scope, consent, and safety before relying on them.
Explore consent-based conversations, groups, family guidance and practical support. Confirm whether any in-person work is available at your address.
A digital peer-support pathway for people affected by hoarding or clutter and friends/family supporters. It is not a local treatment or cleanup provider.
Use the directory to look for qualified care. A listing is not an Alliance endorsement or confirmation of current availability.
Call about an assessment, current appointments and the appropriate office. General counseling is verified; hoarding-specialty experience and remote options must be confirmed.
Self-referrals are listed. Ask about eligibility and current capacity for support with recovery goals and community connection.
Ask about OPTIONS, caregiver support, person-centered counseling or meal eligibility. Needs, assessment and availability determine which services can be offered.
Ask about trips to appointments, shopping or senior centers, including travel to regional care offices. Do not assume the published local service covers an out-of-town trip.
Call Northern Tier to confirm the current distribution before travel. The food pantry location is different from the agency's Fourth Street office.
Ask about owner-occupied or rental eligibility, an energy assessment and safe access requirements. Do not assume a specific repair will be funded.
Ask about borrowing, copying and faxing. Call for current arrangements; the library announces possible website/email downtime during October-November maintenance, not a building closure.
The Conservation District lists drop-off recycling but excludes garbage, construction materials and unlisted items. Ask the coordinator before transporting; do not leave general household waste.
A note from the Alliance
This guide is anchored in Emporium, Pennsylvania, and includes city, county, state, nonprofit, national, and independent pathways. A listing here does not mean Fight the Blight endorses every provider or can guarantee availability. The Hoarding Alliance is not a city or county agency, therapy practice, emergency service, or cleanup company. We will keep reviewing this page, but please confirm details directly before relying on them.
